No one is mistaken

Man mere jin apna bharam gavataਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ॥੧॥
From the One Light, the entire universe welled up. So who is good, and who is bad?

An enlightened being, just like nature, does not discriminate among people on any basis because he can see God in and as them.

I remember a story of Guru Nanak Dev ji. When Guru Nanak Sahib along with his kirtania, Mardana, went to Koda, a cannibal, Mardana was deeply scared on seeing the cannibal. (The story is long; I am just capturing the relevant portion here). Guru Nanak Dev ji just said, “Dekh Kartaar de rang”, which translates to “See the different colors of God”. Guru Sahib could see God in a cannibal, and thus loved him and eventually enlightened him.

For a Sikh or a spiritual aspirant, it is important to incorporate as much as possible of this attitude in his life. Why? Because all our thoughts, words, and actions are prayers to the universe. Through our thoughts, words, and actions, we are telling the universe what we want in life. So, if we are seeking enlightenment or God himself, then we need to try to see God acting in everyone and everything.

And the more we try, the more love we’ll carry for everyone around. Whom will we criticize then? Whom will we judge? Whom will we blame? Whom will we hate? Whom will we speak harshly with?

ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮ ਆਪਨ ਕੀਨਾ ਹਮ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਜਨ ॥
I am a friend to all; I am everyone’s friend.
