What is that one disease that afflicts the entire world and is the source of all other diseases?
Ego.
The nature of ego is exactly opposite to the nature of the true self.
While the true self is light, ego is darkness.
While the true self believes in unity, ego believes in separation.
While the true self believes in giving, ego believes in receiving.
While the true self believes in contentment, ego believes in running after things.
While the true self co-operates with others, ego competes.
While the true self is always self-worthy, ego finds its worth in accumulations and achievements.
While the true self has faith in the order of the universe, ego distrusts the divine will.
While the true self lets go of outcomes and people, ego wants to control everything and everyone.
While the true self engages in selfless service, ego is always selfish in actions and thoughts.
While the true self loves others unconditionally, ego keeps judging others leaving no scope for love.
While the true self is always lost in peace, bliss, and love, ego is always frustrated, anxious, and fearful.
What does our life look like? Are we suffering from ego?
