Oh my friend, listen to what I am going through:
My beloved is near me. I can even hear him. But alas, I cannot see him. There is only a thin veil between us, veil of ego, that is blocking my vision. So, even though he is nearby, he seems far away since I cannot see him. Such is my condition!
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਖੜਾ ॥੧॥
Says Nanak, without the Guru, one cannot understand this that the beloved lord is standing near everyone.
Isn’t this the most startling thing in the entire universe that the beloved lord is standing near everyone, but we are completely unaware of him? We live our lives as if he doesn’t exist or doesn’t know our condition.
The embodiment of love and all power in the universe is with us all the time. And we still we worry! and engage in negativity! How strange! How confounding!
But at the same time, how amazing is this reality! How beautiful! How lucky are we to have born in this world where the creator of the world is the embodiment of love, loves us thoroughly and unconditionally!
How ideal can it get!
