Kahlil Gibran said, “Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you…”
We worry about our children and our family much more than required. We do not realize that we are not the whole and sole caretakers of our family or our children. There is a higher power that exists in everyone and takes care of everyone.
Mothers, fathers, friends, children and spouses-no one is the support of anyone else.
For each and every person, our Lord and Master provides sustenance. Why are you so afraid, O mind?
We need to be a bit easy with our children. Even though they have come through us, they haven’t come from us. They are independent souls who have taken birth on this earth for their own individual purposes. We can guide them as fellow souls but we should allow them to follow their own course of life. There is higher source that is guiding them in a particular direction. We need to respect their intuition.
It was not our intelligence that saved our children in the mother’s womb. It was not our intelligence that grew all the organs in their body. It was not our intelligence that led to the growth of their body and mind. There is an infinite intelligence taking care of the children every moment. Our role is trivial as compared to the role of the divine intelligence. Let’s not assume so much self-importance that we completely forget the role of the divine intelligence.
