The Law of Karma: A Guide To Live, Not a Belief System

This course is by a seeker and for the seeker.

Gurbani repeatedly talks about the law of karma. Other religious scriptures also talk about it.

Does the law exist? If it does, what does it mean for my day-to-day choices?

How do I live if I believe in the law of karma?

And how do I believe in the law of karma when my day-to-day experience goes against my understanding of the law?

Do I set it aside, calling it theoretical or something that I cannot understand?

Or do I invest time and effort in understanding it, given that Gurbani talks about it frequently?

These have been my questions, and the course is the result of yearslong efforts to find answers to them.

Or perhaps, the course is the result of His grace. Perhaps, there is no "Or". Both are true. The course is the result of Her grace because the course is the result of my efforts. Why? Because my efforts and my questions are the result of Their grace.

This course is not another framework promising quick relief. It doesn't ask you to adopt karma as a belief you hold on Sundays and forget on Mondays. It treats the Law of Karma as what Gurbani actually presents it as — a working law, as real and as consistent as gravity.

Here's what you can do as you work through it:

  • You stop obsessing over outcomes and start attending to your current choice — the only place your power lives.
  • You stop bracing for what might happen next, because you understand the law well enough to trust it.
  • You learn to look inward and see what's actually driving your thoughts, words, and actions — not the story you tell yourself about them.
  • You develop real compassion for yourself and for others, replacing the quiet self-punishment that usually follows honest self-examination.
  • And you come to see that unfairness is the illusion. Fairness is the law that's actually running things.

This course draws on Gurbani as its deepest source, and brings in Jung, Krishnamurti, and other thinkers. It is not a scholarly study of Sikhism, and it isn't for someone looking for a quick fix or closed to the idea that life might be more ordered than it appears. If you're ready to stop treating karma as an explanation for the past and start using it to make your next decision — this is for you.
